How to Get to Dia Beacon from New York City

Dia Beacon is located in Beacon, NY, and is open Friday-Monday from 10 am to 4 pm during the winter and 10 am- 5 pm in the summer. 

Beacon, NY is located 60 miles north of NYC, and can be accessed by train or car. Dia Beacon is within walking distance of the Beacon train station, which is served by Metro-North Railroad trains from Grand Central Terminal. The 80-minute train ride travels alongside the east shore of the Hudson River, providing stunning views to those who opt for a window seat. 

The train to Dia Beacon can be accessed at Grand Central Terminal or the 125th Street Station in Harlem. Tickets for the train can be purchased from a kiosk or through the MTA app, TrainTime, which offers features to help you travel with ease. The app allows you to plan your Metro-North Railroad trip to Dia Beacon and receive up-to-date schedules and train status information. During your 80-minute train ride, you can learn about Dia Beacon’s history, artists on display, and other Dia Sites and Locations by viewing Dia Art Foundation’s guide through the Bloomberg Connects App. The guide has helpful text, videos, artists playlists, and informational posts that can even be used while you’re visiting at Dia Beacon.  

After arriving at the Beacon Station, Dia Beacon is about an 8-10 minute walk away. Exit the train station and follow the signs for Dia Beacon. 

The Beacon Free Loop bus runs Monday through Saturday from the Metro-North Beacon train station to Dia Beacon, Main Street, and Mount Beacon, before returning to the train station. Passengers may hail the bus at any Beacon Free Loop sign along the route for a lift to the museum, or back to the train station.
